(1) 10th century woolen sock from Coppergate made using the nalebinding technique

• Mammen. Decoration on "fillet" in gold thread.
Found in a rich (?) mans grave in Mammen, outside Viborg in Denmark. 10th century.

• The York Socks. (1)
Woolen  sock created by "nalbindning" found during the excavations at Coppergate, York, England. The sock was found in the backyard of a 10th century Viking house.

• The Lunda mitten. 
Woolen mitten found in the medieval layers in Lund, Sweden. 
The same technique was still used in Denmark during the 20th century.

• The Vasa mitten. 
Woolen mitten found at the raising of the ship Vasa. 
The mitten was found inside another mitten made of leather. 
Vasa sunk 1628.
